Quick Synopsis
Hendra (Barry Prima) arrives in a village plagued by mysterious deaths linked to red pills supplied by a mystic living in the forest. Known as “special silencers,” the tablets cause trees to grow inside their victims and burst violently from their bodies.
Quick Review
Absolute bonkers Indonesian film with Barry Prima and trees growing out of people’s chests. What else could you want/need?
Trivia
According to Mondo Macabro, the film was never known to have received a theatrical release outside Indonesia. For years, its only English-friendly release was a Dutch VHS from the 1980s, which cropped the original scope image to 4:3 and included burned-in Dutch subtitles. The tape eventually gained a strong reputation among collectors of obscure Asian cinema, with Mondo Macabro noting that Special Silencers became particularly prized alongside rarities such as Witch with Flying Head.
